Under the Moon and Sea Inspiration
My inspiration comes from my childhood when my parents owned a 300 gallon fish tank full of saltwater fish and coral. I remember watching the water ripple over all the fish and the coral emerge in the night beams. The low tone night lights were soothing with purple and blue tones reflecting everywhere. Under the moon and sea is the theme for my prints and future line. Underwater creatures who have vibrancy like the moon are specifically focused on such as jellyfish, coral and anemones. Colors are soft pastels with dark blues and purples create a glowing feel that I want echoed in the line.
The target market for my future line is women between the ages of 18 to 22, the clothing is ready to wear with elaborate details and frills. The clothing is more dressed up, but can be worn to a variety of occasions.
Runway Renegades Fall 2019
In Fall 2019 I was accepted into Runway Renegades Fashion Show. For the show I was to put together a team and create original looks to walk the runway. Runway Renegades was created in 2007 and is committed to the professional and educational advancement in the areas of arts, culture, fashion and design. The purpose of the Runway Renegades Foundation is to provide financial assistance to local artists. Those granted artists, then in turn, provide mentor-ships training or assistance to the at risk or undeserved populations in our community. Goodwill Industries helped to fund the show and allowed for us to spend $150 on clothes to upcycle for our collections. We also partnered up with Daybreak Youth Services, a organization to help troubled adolescent girls with drug and alcohol abuse.
This look was inspired by pink pearls and the shells of oysters. The look is made up of a blouse, corset, and layered skirt. All the materials for this look are from old dresses that I cut and sewed into new pieces.

This look is a engineered printed dress that changed quite a bit during development. This look plays on the inspiration of sky meets water with the motifs being the moon and jellyfish.

This look is inspired by the shape of jellyfish. the dress has puff details all though the dress with a frill at the bottom. This dress was made from materials of two dresses.

This was inspired by the color and texture of algae and sea foam. The look consists of a top and shorts with frills and piping details. The frills are from a deconstructed night gown.

Melty was inspired by drips of water. The look consists of a blouse, a corset, a wide leg pant and a leather shoulder bag. The majority of the materials from the blouse came from a dress, the corset materials come from a pair of pants, the wide leg pants are from curtains and the bag is from an old leather jacket.

This look was inspired by the combination of a mermaid and belly dancing outfits. The look consists of a crop top with flared sleeves, and a skirt with beaded details. The top materials are from a black prom dress, the skirt is material comes from a bed sheet and all the beads are from broken jewelry.
